Summary

To mark the launch of its series My Brilliant Career, Netflix ANZ is partnering with the Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) and eight state and territory screen agencies, including Screen NSW, to launch The Next Brilliant Career: a development program supporting emerging Australian writers and advancing diversity in the local screen industry.

The program is open to emerging writers across Australia who identify as women or non-binary and invites them to submit an original scripted concept for the chance to pitch it directly to Netflix and receive structured feedback in developing their story for screens.

One writer will be selected from each state and territory to attend a Pitch Day with Netflix in Sydney on 6 October 2026. Selected participants will present their story directly to Netflix ANZ executives and receive in-room feedback, with the opportunity to refine their concept and receive further written feedback afterwards. Travel and accommodation to attend the Pitch Day will be arranged for participants travelling from outside Sydney.

Please note that Screen NSW will not be involved in the formal assessment or selection of participants, and the successful NSW participant will not receive any funding from Screen NSW.
