Screen NSW is developing new pathways to screen

Applications are now open for Screen NSW’s Pathways Development Program, an initiative designed to increase participation and support the continuation of a career in screen for emerging NSW creatives with disability.

The program, which was first launched in 2024, is designed to support emerging writers with disability with targeted mentoring and funding to develop an original long-form screen project to a pitch-ready stage.

The Pathways Development Program offers up to $30,000 in funding for three creative teams, and eligible projects must include an NSW-based producer who is at least mid-career, an NSW-based writer with disability, and a playwright, journalist, audio drama writer, podcast scriptwriter or author who has at least one work professionally produced, published, or distributed.

The program will encourage a more inclusive screen sector, by supporting NSW creatives to build their professional networks with the industry, develop their strong and distinct creative voice, and leverage further development support or secure marketplace finance with a pitch-ready project.

Screen NSW is looking for projects that are compelling, distinctive and has a strong sense of its audience. There is no restriction on subject matter or style for projects, and alumni of the previous Screenability Film Fund are encouraged to apply.

Applications will close on Thursday 2 April at 5pm. For more information and to apply, visit the webpage here.

Acting Executive Director of Screen NSW, Karla Lampe said:

“A thriving screen sector reflects the range of distinctive and diverse voices we have in NSW. Through the Pathways Development Program, Screen NSW will support the development of authentic storytellers and stories and ensure that creatives with disability continue to make strides in their careers.

“I’m excited to see what new and voices we uncover through the program, as we work towards a more inclusive screen industry."
