The NSW Government is delivering on its commitment to grow the state’s screen industry, with a $100 million capital fund paving the way for a second world-class film studio in Sydney.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) process will open by end of March, creating new opportunities for industry partners and setting the stage for more blockbuster international and local productions.
The capital fund was announced in the 2025–26 NSW Budget as part of a $380 million package for the screen and digital games sector to deliver much-needed new production space.
Recent market soundings and investigations have confirmed the urgent need for additional production space, with reports that Sydney is missing out on major international productions due to a lack of available sound stages and production spaces.
The market process will provide an opportunity to partner with the NSW Government in delivering a film studio on government-owned land located within approximately 35km of the Sydney CBD, with strong connections to major road networks, key success factors identified by industry during previous market soundings.
Submissions will be evaluated against the government’s objectives to strengthen capacity, attract international blockbusters, create local jobs, and ensure NSW remains the nation’s screen powerhouse, with development supported by a co-investment from the $100m capital fund.
More details, including how to register for the market process, will be provided in early 2026.
