Expression of Interest in Membership of the Screen and Digital Games Industries Advisory Committee

Currently seeking expressions of interest for a member who is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to join the Screen and Digital Games Industries Advisory Committee 

Screen and Digital Games industry professionals who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons with a passion for shaping the future of the screen and digital games industries in New South Wales are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to join the Screen and Digital Games Industries Advisory Committee. 

Role of the Advisory Committee

The Screen and Digital Games Industries Advisory Committee advises the Minister for the Arts and Secretary of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport on the strategic direction and funding allocations of programs administered by Screen NSW for the screen and digital games industries, as well as on spaces and production locations.  

Commitment

Members commit to a minimum of four in person Committee meetings per year and may occasionally be asked to attend special meetings or provide out-of-session advice.

Remuneration 

Members will be paid an annual fee on a pro-rata quarterly basis. 

Criteria and desirable skills & experience

The current expression of interest process is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons. Members are to have significant experience or expertise in the screen or digital games industry. 

Applicants will be assessed against the following criteria: 

  • Understanding of the screen and digital games industries and contemporary issues impacting the sector.
  • Communications skills and the ability to objectively represent a range of industry views.
  • Analytical and business skills to assess funding programs and applications.
  • Willingness to engage in constructive discussion with other Committee members and the government. 
Eligibility

To be eligible to be appointed to the Committee, individuals must be:

  • an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • a NSW resident or predominantly working in NSW
  • aged 18 or over.

Individuals who have not acquitted any prior Screen NSW or other DCITHS funding will be ineligible for consideration, unless written approval has been received from the relevant team or agency and outstanding acquittals are submitted prior to appointment.  

All Advisory Committee members must undertake a NSW Government probity check which includes Confirmation of Identity, National Police History, bankruptcy and directorships check before their appointment is confirmed. 

To reflect the diversity and breadth of the screen and digital games industries, the Regulation requires that the Committee includes: 

  • At least one member with experience in the digital games industry
  • At least one member from regional NSW
  • At least one member who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
